Hammer coral with empty bubbles?

Hi r2r hopefully you guys can satisfy my curiosity with this one.

This post will be about my hammer coral. I picked it up today to take a closer look at it and a lot of its tentacles fell off and they had no pigment. Do these things shed?

You can see a tentacle on it still. I bothered it so it is ticked off in the picture.

No, they don’t shed. Hammer corals tentacles frequently inflate and then deflate, it’s just what they do.

I don’t see what specific tentacle you’re talking about, I think I know what you’re talking about.

It was more than one tentacle. Most of them fell off there is one in the picture still.

That may have been from the trip home, or because it’s still settling in. I wouldn’t worry about it, but do keep an eye on it.
