Hammer coral

Can I take the piece of hammer coral off the plate that it was sold with and attach it directly onto my rock?
 
If you mean the plug it was attached to yes. I took my plug off and just placed my hammer coral in between some rocks
 
Be cautious when cutting/ pulling the hammer off the plug as it's bone-like structure can easily split up there entire coral
