Hey all!

I recently got a shipment from WWC of coral and all seems to be doing well. I have had these corals in my system for nearly 2 weeks. They have all been light acclimated and dipped.

I was curious about this hammer though. It has 2.5 heads (one is splitting), and the splitting head is extremely puffy and happy. However, the left head doesn’t inflate quite as much and has a small bit of tissue recession at the stalk. I thought this could be from one of two things: either the splitting head is growing into it or I accidentally bumped that head a bit too hard when removing it from the frag plug or sticking it to the rock. It doesn’t look like it has gotten any better or worse. Tank conditions are stable, though I am working to get nitrate up a bit.

Could the left head be just taking a while longer to get used to the new system?

Yes. Give it time. In the life of a coral 2 1/2 weeks is nothing. Just keep an eye on it.
