My parameters are good, tank is about 10 months old. SPS and most other soft corals are doing great. Hammer has been retracting over the last several days. The one thing that looks weird is there seems to be some spiky growths around it's base. Any ideas?

These look like vermitid snails. They will irritate the hammer. Break them off or superglue the tubes shut.

What are your parameters? Can you post so we can see how your tank is doing?
