Hello! Reborn to reefing... had to put the hobby away while I was raising children, very excited to be back! 45 gal cube, prime hd light.
Tank has been cycled for about 3 months. Hammer is new to the tank, arrived about a week ago. lights are set to acclimate. Peramiters seem fine (below) Is there something I should be doing something different?

I think that it should be OK. Check tomorrow and see if it is still open. This happened to mine when I first got it and it shut soon after. Hammers sometimes retract into their skeleton or open their mouths when stressed by constant waterflow blasting them. If you just have powerheads running non-stop, I would recommend going to a hardware store and picking up a 24 hr timer like this one for a few bucks: https://www.menards.com/main/electr...-mechanical-timer/59874se/p-1513154689155.htm. Best of luck!

We’re glad you joined. Looks good, maybe hungry just a bit. I never fed my hammers but they do need something, what fish are in the tank and what are you feeding?

And if you comfortable stop by the meet and greet section so we can all say #WelcometoR2R

Currently feeding frozen, and reefroids once a week (have not fed the new hammer yet) Was hesitant to feed if this open mouth was bad news. Ill feed him in the AM and see how that goes. Thanks!

An open mouth can either be a stress response or it's something that can happen as they expel waste. IMO, the coral looks stressed. I would not try feeding until the coral acclimates to your system.

did you ever find the problem? mine is doing the same thing. there are a dozen posts like this not one person followed up, gave advice, figured it out or anything.
That post is from 2019. The OPs nitrates were way too low for euphyllia and the hammer was probably starving. What are your parameters like?
