Hello!

I have a 38 Gallon nano icecap rimless tank.

I recently purchased an Advanced Hang On Back Refugium Box PRO SERIES - Medium - Fiji Cube, light and miracle mud.

Just after purchasing this item my concern will there be too much weight and ruin the seams of the tank?

Since I’m limited in space, I’m trying to figure out the placement of this item. Do I place it in the middle chamber or the return chamber?

With water at about 8 pounds a gallon, I'm always so hesitant to tang much of anything on the back of a small, unbraced tank. But may that's just me. 🙁

Here are the dimensions for the icecap 38 rimless tank I have.

Tank Dimensions: 24.25 x 24.25 x 16in (LxWxH)

actual, looking at the dims on the fuge versus tank, I think just use a single piece of 2x4 (or whatever the difference ends up being

Trying to follow you a little better, is your tank an all-in-one? You say the refugium is a hang on back... but then you ask which chamber to put it in (middle or return) (?) Either I'm confused, or just tired. Lol. 🙆🏻‍♂️

Same...now confused also LOL.....
I guess the better to word it. Where should I position the Refugium. Location 1 or location 2? I’m limited with space in location 2

I’m still confused. If it’s HOB it won’t be in any chamber. You’d need to position it where the intake and return fit. Likely across two chambers.

The hang on Refugium is small it’s only going to be able to hang on one chamber

Ok so at 8” I would recommend catching the first intake of water before it goes through any other filtration. This way the natural material gets first chance at the nutrients. 8” does sound small. You could use the tanks chamber for rubble and the HOB primarily for macro.

This doesn’t have much to do with the OP but anyone have any idea of a good hang on refugium for a biocube 29? I really don’t want to do the back chamber thing again lol.

I had an AIO years ago and used a big cheap HOB. Just added a power head with hose. I think it was a clear tetra brand ~6” x 16” . Worked great.
