Think I messed up! Finally started my JBJ FP -45g reef tank this last weekend. I'm afraid I already know the answer...i used thee 20lb bags CaribSea Fiji Pink live sand. I looked at several calculators and went for three bags! Its maybe 4" thick? I was shooting for 2-3". Looks good but "seems it may be too thick". Now I keep hearing horror stories about too much sand and producing gases. Its only been set up overnight at this point and I don't know if I should remove some? There is also full aquascape of live rock. If i do, any suggestions to the most efficient way to remove sand? Have Python vacuum I haven't tried yet. Or use some sort of "long handled scoop? Let me know what you think? Thanks

You could also stir it up a bit when doing water changes to keep it as fresh as possible
