Is this ok? All parameters are great and I just got rid of a HUGE algae problem. I just got a few new inverts so if I dont have to do a water change I'd rather not. I have a sump with bio-rings and nitraguard.
Thank you!

I only do WC about once every 6 months, so depending on how established your tank is, I'd say this is probably not a problem.

Well I guess your coral and fish will let you know but how do you compensate for nutrient consumption or trace elements? Are you dosing? People certainly manage tanks with little or no water changes but they have methods in place to compensate for this.

I dose ESV 2-part for major, minor, and trace elements. Also dose a few on the side based on history of ICP test results. Nutrients are managed by filtration and a chaeto reactor.

You’ll be fine. I do obe like ever 3 months on my 32 gallon biocube. No problems with dosing

What is dosing and what does it do? My tank has been up about 2.5yrs. I have a coral bandid, snails, sally lightfoot, hermit crab and anemones for filtration.
I have yet to attempt fish...I dont wanna kill anything

Dosing is adding chemicals that contain trace elements to your tank that are depleted by coral uptake

I change water when once in awhile.
To export nutrients is the main reason.
I went months without changing water as my nitrates and phosphates were near zero .

Dosing is a method of replacing elements that coral consume. Sounds like you don't have many sources of nutrients (fish poop), so you shouldn't need to worry much about Nitrate/Phosphate buildup. You should be okay without WC for a while.
