Heater thoughts for 220

Looking for input on heater/heaters for 220 build. I'm thinking 2 500W instead of 800W So if one fails it is unlikely to over heat tank.

You would be better getting 3 small ones. If one sticks on it wont cook the tank. But if a 500w sticks on it will. Id say get 3 250w

That sounds like a good idea I was thinking 500W would accomplish that safety but 3 250w would be even better

Fwiw i dont use a heater but would do it that way if i did. All my pumps keep the temp right.

I could give that a shot before worrying about heaters. we keep our house about 70 degrees at night and let it go up 75 during the day so maybe the heat generated from the pumps will be enough

What helped most to keep my temp stable was putting a glass lid on the tank. Also reduced evaporation. Its not sealed completely, there is a 2"x4" gap. Ive seen too many tanks destroyed for heater malfuctions.

Here in canada we have forced air gas heat, so my house stays at 26c most of the winter. So temp doesnt get low.

If you go the heater way, get a heater controller too if its not too costly.

Good to know. I have an apex I was planning on using to control whichever way we go.
