Hey guys!
I was at PetSmart with my youngest daughter to pick up crickets for her Leopard Gecko and they had a Fluval Flex 32 gallon with stand for 75% off since it was an online order return and they don't normally stock it in store. Anyways, since it was new in box and only $125 I snatched it up!
I know it is freshwater but I want to set it up as a small reef tank next to my desk. So since this is my first saltwater aquarium here I am! I plan to post to this thread regularly and use it to solicit opinions and answers to any questions that come up that I cannot find on my own.
I know I would like to do the following off the bat:
1. Replace return pump with a Sicca Syncra Silent 1.5.
2. Add a custom mesh top to replace the lid and lights.
3. Add a mount arm with a light strong enough to grow whatever I want in it.
4. Add one or two inTank media baskets to replace the existing filtration media to give me more options.
My current questions are:
1. Am I missing anything (outside of the normal saltwater stuff) that I need to consider in turning this tank over?
2. Where can I get a mesh top made to fit this specific aquarium?
3. What are some stocking ideas for this size tank? I like unusual fish but I am also new to the hobby and I know the size of the tank is limiting.
Thanks All!!!
Eric
