Hey everyone! I’m Ray from the Orlando, Florida, area.
I’ve been in the aquarium hobby for more than 30 years, keeping both freshwater and saltwater systems. Back in the ’90s, I owned a tropical fish store in Winter Springs, FL, with around 110 tanks featuring saltwater and freshwater fish, corals, aquariums, and dry goods. I bred African cichlids, especially fish from the Rift Lakes of Malawi and Tanganyika, as well as discus. I also built my own filtration systems over the years.
After taking a break from the hobby, I jumped back in with both feet! I currently have a 60-gallon cube, a 15-gallon Innovative Marine AIO, and a 75-gallon FOWLR system that I’m getting up and running.
I’ve always been more of a fish guy, especially when it comes to lionfish, triggers, tangs, and other fish with plenty of personality. That said, I’m starting to get interested in corals, too.
A lot has changed over the years, especially with the technology, so I’m still learning. I figured I’d join Reef2Reef to share experiences, pick up some new ideas, and maybe help a few people along the way.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Ray
