Hi,
Just joined today. Don't have a tank..yet. Want to do some investigating about them before stepping in. Thinking of a nano tank.

From Louisville KY, I am mainly a snake guy...got some beautiful green tree pythons and a pair of Amazon tree boas.

Welcome to R2R! This is a great place to learn with lots of friendly people willing to answer questions. A lot of people jump into SW tanks. It's good that you're researching it beforehand. It's a committment both financially and to the animals we keep.

John welcome!! Glad to see new people entering the hobby. We want to help you as much as possible so ask all the questions you need to. :)

BTW how did you hear of R2R?

Hey John, glad to have another hobbyist close. Hope Rev doesn't care, but please check out LMAS. Its the local club in Louisville and we have a lot of great members. As newly voted vice president, I'm hosting the first meeting this coming Sunday in Bardstown, so I hope you can attend.

R2R is a GREAT place to be, so from both LMAS and R2R, WELCOME :)

Thanks guys!

Kev, I heard of this place awhile ago, probably through Google, but never registered and kind of forgot about it.

Until recently, when a friend on MVF named Stephen Tyrrell gave me the link again.

So here I am.

Hey btkrausen, I'm actually in Fern Creek, even closer! Not sure if I can make it this Sunday, short notice and I have to take my son to a birthday party.

Welcome to R2R! That is a beautiful python! I used to be a snake guy but the wife is TERRIFIED of them so no snakes for me anymore! LOL

THanks. My wife was terrified too but she has really come around to the point where she'll hold the corn snakes and actually fed one!

Welcome! Ill be in the nice cold state of Kentucky tomorrow, I use to own a farm there...

Welcome to the site John. Glad to see you made it here(finally :) ).
Any questions? Ask and you will recieve.
Stephen

Welcome to R2R! You should be able to find all the info you need to help you make informed decisions on how to get started in the hobby here on R2R. Very friendly atmosphere here and there are always people willing to help you out. Good luck and start a build thread when you get starting seting up a tank.

Hey John, glad you found our local site :) Hope to see you on both the local site and on Reef2Reef. R2R is much more active than the local forums, but great information in both places. Hopefully you can make a meeting soon.

welcome to reef2reef, snakes huh i dont think my wife would let me get a snake. the bigger the tank the better i think, well to a point anyway i think a good starter tank is 75 gallons, its big enough that it will be stable and it is shallow enough that you dont have to dump a ton on lights

welcome bro I used to be a snake guy also I had an albino redtail that I liked a lot. But if your intrested in nanos check out the salona 34 great looking tank

welcome to reef 2 reef, there is a information overload here in a good way, you can learn more here in a couple hours that will get you going, don't let all the research scare you, there are aqurium set ups for easy { tank light filter} to complecated { fish rooms, reactors , specil lighting , dosing pumps , sumps, skimmers etc} just rember that with salt water time and patience / slow and steady yeild best results
