HELP!!! 40 Breeder Stand

So I am planning on building a stand for my 40B, but I want to use a second 40B as a sump in the stand. How would I build the frame to support the display tank and still allow enough room under the tank for the sump?

Any/all help is greatly appreciated.

easy lol, the stand needs to be a little oversized, if you have room at one end try to build so the sump can be removed without too much work, a sump that big is nice but I always find there is never enough room from the tank top to the cabinet top, happy to help if you get stuck :D

I know that it needs to be oversized LOL. I should be more specific on what I'm trying to figure out.

I'm wondering how I need to construct the stand to support the dispaly 40B without the legs being directly under the tank edges?

hehe, majic? lol, a 40 isn't that heavy, a top frame of 2x4's is plenty if you put 1/2 or 3/4 ply on top, a cross brace at the back from corner to corner if you want an open back or just sheet it all with ply so it can't shift

Here's a rough sketch on what I was thinking of doing. Basically, if you look at the top view, I was going to add a couple 2x4's at each end of the display 40 to support the weight. I was also going to add support to the top corners of the stand (Front View). Do I really need to add support to those corners, or will the stand hold the weight without them?

Is this overbuilt? Would it work?

its hard without sketching it for you but if you put a 2x4 board on its edge across the front and post it down to the floor you wouldn't need those triangular braces.

Make sure all your 2x4's that are horizontal are on edge and not laid flat, there is no strength laid flat. a 2x4 stands are way over built so i wouldn't worry about that.

For reference my stand for my 90 gallon is made out of 3/4 oak plywood. The whole thing pretty much and you could drive a truck on it.
