Well my 55g beaslbob goldfish porch tank split a seam. After 18 years with a failed center brace and 5 years on the back prorh we had a flood. Water drained to the bottom 4 inches or so. Fortunately petco Decatur has the dollar per gallon sale and a 55g I have ordered. But I need help with heavy stuff. So if anyone is feeling really sorry for me could a few people help this weekend taking down the old tank and setting up the new? Please please pretty please. I'll try to post pictures.

I hate to hear about your bad luck. I guess no one is safe from that sort of thing. At least it wasn't inside your house. What all needs to be done? Just swap out 55 gallon tanks? Also, what day were you thinking of doing this?

I should be able to lend a hand. I'll know by this afternoon if I have to work Saturday or not. If I don't have to work, I'll be open both days.

That's a deal! At least there's some good luck! Maybe someone else can come help with the lifting. If not, I may be able to get a friend to come with me.

That would work. I wouldn't want to try moving a 55 by myself lol. It might be possible but I dont want to risk it with someone else's tank. I've got a few things going on today but I might can come by this afternoon but tomorrow is open as well.

Call when ready and before you come. Might not need by then. Appreciable offer but don't let it interfere with other stuff

I'm in the same boat. Tomorrow would be better for me as well. We can play it by ear and if it's not moved today I can definitely come tomorrow morning.

we moved the tank and thanks for the offer.

status: new tank setup with beaslbob method.

of the 6 goldfish 4 made it, one body found and one unaccounted for.

could have been worse. the tank drained to 4" of wate, with the fish trapped there for a few days, and the fish were in buckets for a day or so. All this on an outside porch with house walls on three sides and 30-40 degree temperatures. so one lesson learned is gold fish are extremely hardy.

Total costs were $66 for tank plus $30 for peat moss, plants, and pro choice select.

I may even attempt to reseal the old tank and replace top frame..

That's good to hear and those goldfish are very hardy! I guess at least it wasn't in your house when the tank gave away. Do they sell replacement top braces for those tank? Or is that something you have to diy?

don't know about the top brace. Guess I'm gonna find out., We got the tank from aquarium shop back in 2002 and I have no idea what brand it is. But the replacement tank seems to have an identical brace. So I'll probably check dimensions on both tanks and if they match contact them.

FWIW it's now 4 live fish and 2 dead. the unaccounted for popped out of the substrate.
