Help! Cant decide on tank.

Yeah... That's the only downside to the IM100 tanks. There is no room in the stand. But the stand and tank are absolutely beautiful outside of the lack of storage. Just curious, is your wife against a separate cabinet because of the way it looks? Or what is her reservation about it? I ask, because I have the IM100 INT and was able to build standard kitchen cabinets and counter top onto it and it pretty much blends together perfectly. And gives me plenty of room to store everything I need. Controller, top off and even all of my water change and test equipment.

I'm definitely a huge fan of IM. If/when I go bigger I won't even question it...IM will get my money.

I hear ya, I may try and sell this sump and purchase something else. That or try the klir roller mats as others have. I briefly read that I.m is producing a roller mat for these sumps.

I'm just waiting for my invoice for a white I.m 100 ext. The 15mm glass is a nice feature and it includes a mighty jet pump I can also sell. So the tank is getting even cheaper!

I know the IM sump gets some heat for the lack of space for a roller, but they are still really solid sumps and look very nice. I have seen a few people on here looking to buy them as a standalone. I don't think you would have any trouble selling yours. Especially brand new. I'd recommend doing a leak check on it with freshwater, then wiping down. That way you can assure the buyer it's good to go.

And for what it's worth, I actually used the 3 cups in my IM sump to hold live rock ruble. Then cut a sheet of floss to lay on that whole section. So all I do is pull one out each week and replace it. Super easy

The height is left for the corals, lol. The Stags in the back will grow to the surface. Plus after 30+ I want to be able to pull a rock if needed and not have to destroy the rest of the Reef in the process. Makes changing things in the tank when it grows in easier.
Also I'm 67 so the system needs to be easy to service as we both age, lol.

I actually only have about 10 inches on 1 side of the stand and against a wall on the other

If you go to the 'Mega Matrix' part of the site you can 'customize' your tank and it does show a price for your configuration.

I'm not sure if you can get pricing though on all their various brands through the website. My understanding is they try to push sales through LFSs rather than through online.

I have the IM 100 ext. At least 3 people on this forum have fitted the Fijicube ARF20 roller fleece in the rectangular area for the filter sock area. It’s almost a perfect drop in. Also IM is coming out with their own roller filter for the RFS sumps. I have my controller board with dose pumps mounted on the right side door opening of the stand. And an Apex trident on a shelf inside the stand.

IMHO the RFS sump is superior to the red sea or water box sumps. It offers a proper amount of space to have a good sized refugium and space in the skimmer section to put reactors and bio media. Also being a double walled acrylic design it’s less likely to leak. Another plus is the fitted polycarbonate covers stop salt creep and saltwater spray around the inside of the cabinet.

I question the mentality of anyone who buys a new Red Sea tank after the long documented QC problems

If the Red Sea leaks scare you off (they did for me) and you don't like the IM sumps, you could look at the Nyos 440. 2/3 of the cabinet is sump / ATO, 1/3 is dry side for electronics. Tanks are a beauty. Just got one in the UK and in the process of setting it up (note IM and Waterbox were not options for me over here, so it was Nyos, Cade ($$) or D-D Aqua-Pro Reef that I was deciding between).

Did your tanks include a mesh top? Are there spots to allow light mounts to clamp to the back glass?

Replied in other thread as well. But the INT version is open above the back chamber and I use back of tank mounts. They fit perfectly. Not sure about EXT version though. But plenty folks here have EXTs so I'm sure someone can confirm

I would recommend the UNS reef tank line. I’ve had their tank for years and saw the reef line at reefapoolza and I gotta say it’s looked great. And love the organized stand
