I had a frag of a coral that was had thick round stalky branches. It wasn't a granulosa.

I don't have photos...but Google search doesn't turn anything up...but I'd love to get my hands on another frag of it.

Any ideas what it might be? I understand, that no photo does make it tough.

Yes and not...those have "stalks" and are longer and slender...

They were kinf od like sausages...

I know I'm doing a terrible job describing this thing.
It’s okay, I know the feeling. I’m just thinking “sausage” coral and that’s funny enough, but in my head it’s already named the “Snausages Acro”. You said not a granulosa, but is it somewhat like a granulosa? What did it grow like? A table, stag, bushy?

Warmer? Or colder?
Niether....I think I'm going to have to scour the internet for a long while.

I've been doing this a long time and I've never seen anything like it. It came in a cheap frag pack from someone so I didn't give it much thought.

Maybe a blue ridge coral, they can grow smooth and fingerlike, or upright and plating. They also sometimes have long polyps that extend like a toadstool, but not that long, just similar looking polyps.

Stylophora. Just saw one from Fiji that I haven't seen available for 10 years?

This does not work. Many of us can guess dozens of corals - A Pic is a must and too easy to do.

I appreciate everyone's help...but I don't think I'll ever figure it out.

If I would have known when I lost it, I would have kept the Skeleton.

Man!! That was some wicked coral ID gaslighting to a bunch of us I bet. That scenario of a coral so plain fully described and we’re looking for the the Hot Doggiest coral in our brains that we can’t see a picture of. The vague responses and not even coming close to describing the growth pattern or something possibly similar. Even after the pretty dang specific “granulosa” term, but only as an exclusion? Was it a tabling hot dog or a branching hot dog? Maybe a sand hot dog? What did you feed the hot dog? I gotta try this technique on an individual person. Reef Psy Ops. I kinda liked it.
