I have a halide fixture... generic with nothing written anywhere on the ballast.. The bulb is a blueline with 05-04 R written on bulb base. How do I discover the wattage and temp?? Help?

The guy I got it from thinks its a 250w. Is it possible and what would happen if I placed a 250w bulb in a 175w fixture?

Well reading up on bluelines product they sell 3 different wattage bulbs and their fixtures handle all three so the worst that would happen is it would either pop a breaker or the wiring would get hot so monitor that for a day and u should be golden

Well I couldn't figure out without a doubt which it was but I replaced it with a 250w Blueline 20,000k. It's been burning for a week now without a problem. I appreciate the assistance which made me confident enough to not worry if it was 175w or 250w.
