Was wondering if anyone know what this coral might be. I posted on the hitchhiker and critters and know one could id it for me.

Ok soooo, when I bought it i was told it was a mushroom part of the bounce family. I cant find anything similar i posted this picture on hitchhiker and critter and no one could id it they said to post it around to see if some other group might be able to id it.

yea they are all related. Its a rhodactis i belive
Id love to know the name. It may even color up for you.

Thanks..just wish I could id it. I have it next to some green mushroom does not seem to bother it, I guess ill just keep an eye on it.

It may be a Rhodactis going bouncy.It may also be a baby amplexidiscus mushroom.I see what looks like a really hungry mouth.Will it close up like a purse when you feed it?

I wanted to post an update on this unusal coral that no one has been able to identify. Under some new lights the tips have some color

You would think we could ID it then?

I know there have been recent deep water discoveries and with the recent video of Cubas reef system, I'm wondering if maybe it came from one of those areas? I've been itching to see if we get new coral in our hobby with these two things considered?

The funny thing is its probably not new. just hasn't been popular and doesn't have a Fancy Name yet.
Scientific name, that's different.

could be red sea, but i've seen a few more in limited research that make me say its from the Americas. But I am a relative newb and not a scientist.

Nice find! Looks very similar, imo. Probably the lack of color would make it unpopular.
