Help, I need new fish!

Hello! So, I need a new fish. In my 45 gal, I have a Fox face, Snowflake Eel, Velvet Damsel and Maroon Clownfish. My tank is being treated right now, so whenever it's near done I'm looking for a new fish. Hopefully, I'll get it in 3 weeks or so. I also have 1 coral.

I'm not in agreement with your current fish choice, 2 of those fish should be in larger tanks, and all 4 of those fish have aggressive tendency. I would not add any other fish to this tank.

Which 2? I know the foxface should probably be in a bigger tank, but keep in mind he's really small. He's only maybe under a year or a couple months old.

Looked like you are fully stocked if not over stocked.

Some mean fish in there too once they reach adults.

Foxface grow really fast if fed properly.

Thanks! What should I feed him? I've been feeding them 2 cubes of Emarald Entree, and a Clam or Two for the eel. And yes, the eel is really mean. He has eaten at least 2 of my triggerfish.

triggerfish should also be in much larger tank. If you are disrespectful to the animals in your care, why should we suggest more fish to you? Please respect the animals!

No, these were babies! Less than 2 inches long, and the man at the fish store said it would be alright if they were in our tank.

I'm not feeding them to an eel just for food! Where'd you get that from? I have a respect for the animals. Please understand that I don't know everything about fishing, and I respect your care for my fish, but I don't just feed fish to the eel so he can eat.

Please listen to the people responding in both threads. We are trying to help you. Before you do anything else, Please do more research about the fish that you already have… their needs, their personalities, their aggressiveness, whether or not they have the potential to eat other fish that you put into the tank, etc. Educate yourself first.

Spirulina mysis, Nori, LRS fish frenzy are some of my fav's to buy.

The man at the fish store motive is to sell fish. You can't always trust the person you are giving cash to to be honest with you.

a 45g should have fish that are mostly around 3 inches as adults, perc/occy clowns, jawfish, royal gramma, maybe the small wrasses, shrimp gobies, etc. Not just because of size but because of territory. Most of the fish you have in that size tank are just going to get nastier as they age and not accept new tank mates. There isn't enough space so they kill to create space.

If you want a busier tank with more appropriate fish, then I would return everything you have and start over. Otherwise I would not add anything new and keep it as is but the foxface will probably need a new home at some point because a large fish swimming around a small tank is a bit depressing to see for most.

If you like the bigger aggressive fish and want more, you may want to look around for a used 180g-ish. Used tanks are pretty cheap.

I disagree, snowflakes are pebble tooth eels, they dont typically hunt and kill fish. Now if they are starving yes, but triggers are really not on the menu for a small eel like a snowflake. What probably happened is cause youre wayyyy over stocked and dont have the appropriate fish in the tank they triggers died from water quality or stress and your eel was just eating their bodies. Foxface is going to outgrow the tank in maybe 2 months, that tank is way too small for the snowflake. And you want to add more fish? Jeez please research fish. With the fish youre looking at you want a MINIMUM 180 gallon like the guy above said. Never trust a LFS, they just want to sell fish not actually find them good homes.

I'm not feeding them to an eel just for food! Where'd you get that from? I have a respect for the animals. Please understand that I don't know everything about fishing, and I respect your care for my fish, but I don't just feed fish to the eel so he can eat.

Okay so if your eel is actually killing the triggers (which I think not) that means you are not feeding your eel enough or the right amount of food. I have 4 eels, 2 of which are actually fang tooth eels. They do not hunt my fish because I feed them the right foods and amounts.
