Hello I purchased this today as a true black onyx percula clown but ive had a hard time finding any clown variety that looks exactly like this. Any input would be appreciated.

Looks more like a Picasso to me. Possibly onyx picasso. Any chance you can find out where it came from (supplier, breeder, etc.)? Nice looking fish!

Gotcha. I think it’s definitely onyx with all the black. The stripe connecting the tail bar to the center bar makes it look like it might be a lower grade onyx picasso. I am sure there is someone more knowledgable that can provide more insight.

Here is my onyx picasso and standard picasso you can use to compare for reference. The picture of the standard picasso is several months old. It has developed a lot more black recently, but I don’t think it’s onyx.

I really like it. Im looking to get it a partner and as far as i know any young percula will work correct?

Yes, you should be able to pair it with another percula. Some folks have had success pairing a perc and an occy but I personally did not have success when attemtping this. I think my particular case was doomed from the start since the female occy had quite the attitude.
