I have a 100gallon rimless tank with pink Fiji sand. I have two mp 40 that blow the sand all over my corals that are on or near the bottom of the tank. Does anybody have any good solutions. I would really appreciate it

Just keep dialing back the powerheads until it stops moving around and try to place the powerheads so a ton of flow is not hitting the glass head on and then being routed down and into the sand bed if that makes sense? That sand is a little too fine for my taste and if you have a stony tank with lots of flow, might consider replacing the sand with something a bit courser. I love the Tropic Eden Reef Flakes. Have over 42,000 GPH of turnover in my DT and it stays in place relatively well.

Thanks. Im starting to regret my sand choice. I just added a big clean up crew. I have never changed sand while the tank is up and running. How do you do that?

Key is having a lot of saltwater premade and temp adjusted. I used a large wet/dry vac and sucked as much sand as possible, however, you will still get a lot of water regardless so have you're pretty made water ready! I used special grade reef sand from Carib sea and have no issues, even with two gobys sifting all day:) good luck.

I'd never remove all the sand at once. Remove about 25% at a time and try to not disturb it much and do that over the course of a week. If it's relatively new risks should be lower, if it was a very old sand bed have to be super cautious but sounds like it's fairly new?

I'd do the 25% at a time plan personally. I'd also have some water handy, turn off all your pumps, and suck it out with a vacuum to keep any collected detritus from going everywhere.

Because I don't like assuming....This is a SSB, right?
