I have changed my old canister filter for a fluval 307,my tank was already established so I put the biological media from my old filter to the new filter. I haven't noticed anything bad but my skimmer is going nuts, I have ordered some of Dr Tim's nitrifying bacteria, will this help my filter break in and sort my skimmer out. Also will it harm my tank? Thanks in advance.

no problem, personally if not needed ,i would not add,ammonia level is the key factor here,prime may be better option if ammo is high.
can,did you test yet ,i 'm not sure that the tims will knock down ammo as fast as needed if high
@vetteguy53081 ? thoughts,thanks

I agree with @fishguy242, you really don't need to add more nitrifying bacteria, especially given the amount in your old filter should be far higher than what comes in the bottle, so even if you somehow killed off a bit of your nitrifiers, what you add with the bottle would be comparatively negligible.

OK, well I best cancel my order then, thanks a lot for your advice, my protein skimmer is driving me crazy, it over a year old but its out of control, I don't get it?!

Why not eliminate the bio media all together so your biological filter moves to your tank where it belongs? That way you don't have to worry about stuff like this.
