Hello all, I am trying to make a longterm plan for my tank and could use some help in helping expand my knowledge in useful tank equipment and other ideas. My plan is to make a mixed reef with special interest of LPS corals.

Currently I have:
Equipment:
  • JBJ 28g Nano-Cube with Mini-florescent hood, 105w 10k and Artinink Blue
  • 2 unknown pumps for returns
  • 3 stage filter basket running filter floss, 1/4 cup carbon, and seachem purigen
  • Jebao OW-10 wave pump
  • Aqueon Pro 200w heater
  • Ocean pulse duo wave controller for pumps
  • Imagitarium 20w pump for mixing salt
  • Aqueon 50w heater for mixing salt
Livestock:
  • 2 Misbar Ocellaris Clownfish
  • Emerald Crab
  • 5 Ghost Shrimp
  • 3 Blue Legged Dwarf Hermit Crabs
  • Various Snails
  • Kenya Tree colony
  • Orange Eye Convict Chalice frag
  • GSP
Tools and Tests:
  • Turkey Baster for feeding and cleaning
  • Small Fish net
  • API Freshwater Master test kit
  • RedSea Foundation pro test kit
  • Lab Wash bottle for cleaning with RODI water
  • Mag-Float Glass cleaner
  • Various 5 gallon buckets for holding waste water, mixing salt, adding new water, etc
  • Sand Vacuum siphon and hose
  • Algae clips
  • Refractometer
  • Seachem Algae Scrubs
Other:
  • Instant Ocean Reef Crystals
  • Assorted Shells for hermit crabs
  • Imagitarium Activated Carbon
  • OmegaOne small sinking marine pellets
  • Frozen Brine Shrimp
  • Frozen MARS Blended Fish and Coral food

Planned
  • AI Prime Reef 16hd Light w/ mount, I had this but the mount failed within 4 hours and light took bath, a call later and AI CS was helping organize getting a new one to me.
  • HOB skimmer, AquaMax or CoralVue Octo
  • 22gal Brute trash can for salt mix
  • Auto Aqua Smart ATO buying off a user from here, waiting for shipping

While I have been apart of my father's tanks growing up, as well as my brother's in past years in maintenance and feeding capacities, the designs and decisions of those tanks I did not take part in. Coupled in this is a tank without a sump I am quite out of my knowledge range, If any care to add their thoughts or advice I'd love to hear them!

Thanks, Rijodan

Looks like a good start. Buy some good reef test kits and take it slow. :)
