Hey yall, not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'll shoot my shot (lmk if I should post it elsewhere though pls).

I currently have a 75 gallon tank that I've been wanting to sell for a few years now but never got around to selling it. It's become an eyesore in the garage and I want to finally sell it, but I need advice how.

I don't really feel comfortable having random strangers come to my home, but it's a large tank and not easy to move around, y'know. Does anyone have any advice as to how I can sell this tank safely?

Thanks!!

I have no idea where you live. I do know a guy in the bay area in California . I am sure he knows people who like him are rebuilding Tanks all the time . If you give me your general area I will be happy to ask him for you

I live around the Sacramento area, about 2 hours away from San Francisco. Is he looking for a 75 gallon tank?

I let him know and gave him your Id
It may be an idea to sell as is for hobbyists for disassembly for sump baffles . I am doing one now with help from the guy I am talking about . Glass is very Expensive . You have to figure out the thickness , and if the bottom is Tempered . To do that you get polarized glasses . I bought a pair on amazon for $ 13 . Shine a light through the back ie i pad ect then take the glasses and rotate them . If you get weird patterns then its Tempered and cannot be cut , Therefore useless for what I am suggesting . If you sell it this way , its probably worth more than as a stand alone tank . I bought a brand new Seapora with a tempered bottom for just over $200 Canadian The glass is 7mm / 1/4 inch thick . I bought 4 pieces of 6 by 6 cut glass for about $ 70

Interesting, I didn't know this was a thing. I have no idea what kind of glass this tank has. If it is tempered, there's no other option other than it being sold as a whole tank, I assume?

Anybody else have suggestions?
It can be pretty tough to sell something you can’t ship, requires multiple people to move, and you don’t want picked up at your home. If you have an extra person and a vehicle big enough to transport it, you could arrange to meet potential buyers in a public place like a gas station or store parking lot.
Our local police station even offers a “safe zone” in their parking lot for exchanges, which helps keep everyone safe and makes it less likely that a scammer will agree to meet there to trade cash for items.

Just ask your local LFS to do it . You probably wont get anything for it

I told you how to check it its easy the bottom pane is probably the only one that is tempered. If I was you I would ask your local LFS to deal with it . It also depends on how long its been sitting . To me I would not buy a used tank considering how cheap new ones are . But you never know . I will send pictures of how to see if the glass is tempered . The reason you should be aware of this is that if you hit it solid enough it will shatter into hundreds of small pieces all over theplace . If you are into it do like I did and take it apart . The glass will be bought like someone for sure but I have no idea how much . I told you what I paid for 4 pieces of 5 mm. My tank had 7 mm which my glass place does not carry so if its that thick it may be worth something . Pretty easy to measure from the outside
