My name is David Moore and I need R2R's help. I'm participating in a 9K road race to support the Home Base Program. This awesome program does is that it provides resources for returning vets from Iraq and Afghanistan who have traumatic brain injuries and combat stress disorders. My goal is to raise $1,000 and hopefully more.
The main reason I'm doing this charitable run is because of my brother Kevin who was injured while serving our country in Afghanistan. He received two Purple Heart awards during his tour oversea. His first incident was when his vehicle was hit by an IED (improvised explosive device aka a roadside bomb) and then the second incident was when he was driving his hummer and an RPG went through his door and over his lap missing him by mere inches and ending up in the engine compartment.
My brother to this day still has serious physical and traumatic stress disorders. Part of his road to recovery has included non-profit organizations like the Home Base Program. Through great programs such as the Home Base Program my brother has been able to get counseling and medical help for his injuries.
If you, a family member or friend want to make a donation to help me reach my goal of raising $1,000 my link is here Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program 2010 Run to Home Base 9K You can click on the "Make a Donation" button and donate online or you can click "Download forms" and click on the donation letter and you can mail in a check. If you decide to go this route please include in the "credit donation to participant First and Last name" my name David Moore so I receive credit for the donation.
I know it's hard to donate in such hard times but even if it's a few dollars it helps a ton and it goes to a great cause. Vet's don't get nearly the support and care they deserve when they come back from tours overseas, and I can attest first hand about this. But thanks to programs like Home Base we can all help give our deserving Vets the treatment and support they've earned fighting and dieing for our country...
So in closing please help me help our Vets by donating anything you can and spreading the word to family and friends... Together we can make a difference...
Thanks,
Dave
