Help! What's wrong with my Hammer?

If it has color you can leave it in. If you see any brown jelly oozing that's bad and remove it quickly and carefully.
It's hard to see in the picture but there is a red "shell" looking thing on the base of the hammer. I've been googling around and believe that it's maybe a vermetid snail? Would this cause any concern for the health of the coral?
