Help with brs universal air filter please!!!

Ok I'm trying to hook up my brs universal air filter as a co2 scrubber. I am confused as to which outlet to hook up to my skimmer air intake. Aunt I'm just stupid but on the filter there is an in and an out valve. Which one do I hook up to my skimmer? Wouldn't the intake be sucking air through the filter than the "out move fresh air into the skimmer or am I wrong here? Anyone use one? Please help!!!

Also need help finding a tune connector, the tubing is too small to fit onto my skimmer air intake and my skimmer also has two air intakes, should I get a Y connector to go on both on the skimmer air intakes? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
