Hi,

I recently purchased this lobophyllia a few days ago and there is a black polyp that has appeared. Is this something to be worried about and does it require treatment?

Hei cxzreef, I don't see any black polyp in the image above. I think that for the moment it's best to observe the coral and see whether the overall appearance changes. For now I would sit back and admire your new coral :-)
Hi castellanamattia, thanks for your reply. I have tried to take a better photo. I will wait it out and see what happens.

Ah nice, now I can see it ;-)

Honestly I would wait it out and observe closely. I also had corals that looked like they're dying but after a few weeks they came back.
A recent example is my duncan that made new heads: one head had no polyps at all for 2 weeks (although the others had) but now they're appearing.
