Help with New BTA

Hey guys! Need a little bit of help. I purchased this BTA on Saturday evening. Acclimated it to my tank in the bag. Dropped it in. Next day found it attached to one of the rocks.

I’m a relative newbie to saltwater. This is my first anemone. My tank is a little over 8 months old.

I *felt* like it had been acclimating better and better since Saturday, as from what I understand it can take several days for them to acclimate to a new tank and in the process they can look relatively ugly.. however, I feel like the progression today has gotten worse with the anemone itself pancaking and there being tissue disintegration. I’m just not sure if this is normal? I just don’t want it to nuke my tank.

Your tank is a bit new for a nem IME. What are your parameters, lighting and flow? I agree it doesn’t look good and looks like it’s getting worse.

You started with a poor unhealthy specimen. BTA are resilient and hardy. The age of your tank did not play a part.

The Anemone has shrunken stubby tentacles, a sign of a chronic nutritional deficit.

Pull it out, it’s looking dead.

If you want you can setup a little holding tank with some used tank water and see if it comes around. Their hardy animals, mine has been sucked into a pump twice and still is kicking.

Not worth it causing problems, I’d take it out and if it doesn’t shrink when you touch it or the foot isn’t holding on, in the garbage.

Take out the rock and anemone and smell it. You'll know immediately if it needs to be removed.
