Help with new hammer coral!

Hey all! I’m worried that this coral has BJD. It was shaded by my frogspawn where I first placed it and when I saw it had started bailing out, I moved it to right under the light. Noticed the area where the bailout had happened had a very thin brown film on it. I siphoned it off but there’s still a little left. I’ve had people say it can’t be BJD because it’s been like this for 36 hours and BJD would decimate the polyp overnight and I’ve started dosing Mg because it’s low in my tank, but any help would be great! Have photos from yesterday and then the overhead one and the one after it are from right now

I’ll also say that I haven’t seen any bailout tentacle parts since I moved the coral so I’m hoping it really was a lack of proper lighting issue and bringing my Mg up to healthy ranges will help it recover and regain polyp size

Do a dip for it. 50% hydrogen peroxide and 50% tank water, add Lugol's iodine until it becomes tea colored and dip for five minutes. Use a baster to blow off scum and parasites and the infection. It's not too late to save it.

Is it BJd though or just fading coral because of the light? It doesn’t seem to be spreading anymore and the coral hasn’t bailed out any more tentacles since I moved it

I don't see brown jelly and I agree brown jelly will kill the coral in 24-48 hours. But touching the coral repeatedly is not a good idea.

If you can post the water parameters, tank age, type of lighting and flow, I'm sure folks will be able to help you out, but you haven't provided enough info on the tank to help you much now.

I wouldn't risk it as it is. It will be ticked for a while but should ensure that it will clear any residual bacterial infection.

Sure! It’s a 15g hello reef tank. Running combo ai blade glow and grow combo over tank with intensity set to maintain par of 150 at the highest coral ranging down to 75 @ sand level. At last test,

Nitrate 20.6, phosphate .07, KH 8.7, Ca 420, Mg 1200, salinity 35ppt.

Like I said I’m raising Mg to 1350 over a couple days to get it to a level my LPS will like more

Posted above but also I didn’t mention flow. Standard kit that comes with helloreef. Sicce power head. Have it on back wall pointed at surface across the diagonal to maximize surface agitation and allow for more random flow at lower levels

I would also say the polyp near the frogspawn looks far worse so could be getting stung, i know this is unlikely within euphyllia but not impossible, so maybe distance it a bit, and it could still just be adjusting to the tank

Well like I said I moved it to the other side of the frogspawn where it’s not shaded by it at At all and it’s not bailing out any longer. If it gets any worse I’ll separate them as well!
