Help with PH

Hey reefers , lm looking for some more ideas to increase my PH . My apex probes on 2 systems reads 7.9 at night and 8.1 during the day. Larger system reads 7.82 at night and 7.98 during the day. I’m dosing kalkwasser a slow drip day and night on the 160 gallon in the amount of 1500 ml . Also I have run tubing from outside into my co2 scrubbers on both tanks and then directly into the Venturi's on both skimmers. On a side note my salifert tests read right around 8.3 on both tanks. Wonder which one is more accurate? How bout it ? Any ideas? If apex is more accurate I feel like I need to get the PH higher? Thanks in advance!

8.3 is perfect IMO....
I'm lucky if a get mean reading of 8.0

Yeah that’s with the manual salivary test. I’m starting to think the apex probe is not accurate from what I’m reading on other posts

Never seen an consistent accurate PH tester for hobbyists.

Many are useless.

I no longer fret about the day/night swings...as long as I have a mean of 8.0 or above I'm happy.
Currently at 8.1 for the month

I believe I’m doing everything I can do to achieve an optimal PH level. I guess I should lean more towards the salifert reading

You may get additional gains with a co2 scrubber. I had my scrubber plumbed in from outside but empty until a week ago (just now adding corals). After filling the scrubber with media I now get up to 8.3 where as with outdoor air only I was getting only up to around 8.1.

Edit: oh never mind I thought your post said you were only running outside air not a scrubber already. Maybe get a bigger skimmer? :)

One other thing: what do you keep your alk at? More then likely if you really want higher ph you might need higher alk.

Pretty sure it’s not the skimmer. I’m running a reef octopus 250-s it’s a beast !
