Hawk fish are not the best for reefs, some nip corals and all of them land on corals from what I’ve heard. Grammas are usually mean, it would probably pick on the firefish. Yellow coris probably is too big for your tank. With clowns make sure one is bigger than the other when you get them and go for babies. My dad and I plan on setting up a reef tank in july. I really want to get my stocking list down for everything. I want to have a pair of clowns, a royal gramma, a firefish and some other small fish plus a hawkfish and some wrasse, including yellow coris wrasse. Advice for coral and inverts would be much appreciated. Will update with setup details and dimensions soon. Thanks in advace
I would cut the wrasses in your size tank honestly. Cardinals only one, they will fight unless you have someone as the store who can sex them for male and female. Chocolate chip stars are not reef safe. You should probably only get one emerald crab, they get aggressive with each other in smaller tanks like yours. No on the hawk fish, they nip corals. In my opinion, however it’s your tank!Thank you all for your ideas! This is my current list:
Fish
2 clowns
1 royal gramma
1 firefish
1 yasha goby + pistol shrimp
1 yellow coral goby
1 midas blenny
1-3 banngi cardinals
1 longnose hawkfish
1 yellow coris wrasse
1 mckoshers wrasse
1 ruby longfin wrasse
Cuc
5 blue leg hermits
3 emerald crabs
2 cleaner shrimps
5 trochus snails
1 chocolate chip star
coral
1 gsp (on its on island)
1 zoa
1 leather
Any ideas if it should be shorter and if so what to cut. Also order of addition would be great. Thanks again
Yeah I'm gonna cut the hawk for now, but may get one later. Star will also be cut.I would cut the wrasses in your size tank honestly. I would add two baby clowns first
No, my tank doesnt have enough pods for them and lm nervous to try them because I dont have a refrugum for cultivating my own pods either, and most are wild caught and starve if they dont have enough of them since they are used to a bunch in the oceanYeah I'm gonna cut the hawk for now, but may get one later. Any experiences with dragonets. Thinking for a few years ahead
