The harlequin doesn't have the bristles and I think I see those in the picture you posted.

If it's a harlequin, they are cool and just scavengers. I had one safely ina tank with shrimp, clowns, and gobies and there was never an issue. They can get large quickly, so be prepared. Its fun to watch them eat.

I can't speak for the fancy brittle star as I've never had one.

Drop a pellet next to it and turn out the lights. It should creep out and grab it. Yeah though its good and you can buy from lfs. I got rid of mind because i think it was killing small fish but cant prove it. Creepy things but cool to watch find food and eat.
 

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
