Hermit cCrab

I have a Halloween Hermit crab and have a question. I got him about 3 months ago and he was very active and moving all over my tank. About 2 weeks ago, he switched homes to a much larger shell. He then seemed ok for a week and then he took up residence on a piece of live rock and has not moved since. Is he hibernating or is this normal?

I would introduce a more elaborate number of shells for the hermit to move into. That shell probably just does not fit right.

There were 3 different shapes and sizes. He picked the biggest. LOL

That means provide more. Lots more. All larger and similar to current size. Add 12 or so. By the way that's an electric blue leg. Halloweens are orange and white.
