Hi everyone just wondering if anyone could let me know what the best backup is for a 326 litre saltwater mixed reef tank has we are expecting power cuts in the uk and getting worried that I’m going to lose everything in my tank and I know electrical equipment is different in the uk than America and other countries

I don't about the UK but we have a place in the US called Harbor Freight. They have affordable gas generators. Although my tank isn't up and running yet we have one for our freezer and refrigerator because we live in a wild fire area and have frequent black outs. I'll definitely have it really to supply power to the tank. I don't know the laws or regulations of the UK but a portable gas generator is a life saver.

On 25 year mature display tanks I use UPS (uninterrupted power supply)to operate 70W circulating pump from sump to display. Only survival equipment hooked to UPS.

However, when I built my home on the GulfCoast in Louisiana, I installed a 15KW emergency generator with auto start capability at a cost of $5K.

I use a UPS system on my WiFi and electronic equipment at a cost of $200.
