Hi
I have a problem with aluminium levels being high in my reef tank. The only ceramic I use is the main rock structure that was placed in the tank 1 year ago. What could cause this levels ?
Thanks in advance
Louis

Are the rocks natural?

I'm not sure those levels are high enough to cause issues. In my experiments, it took 500 ug/L to cause coral problems, while 250 ug/L and 50 ug/l did not.

Do you use RODI or tap water?
If RODI, when was the last time you changed the filters?
What, if anything, have you added to the tank since 10/23, including any new food or chemical products?
No new food or chemical products, i use RODI and changed the sediment, actuvated carbon and carbon filter yesterday. To my knowledge it could be any pumps could it?

The main structure is ceramic rock, the two other ones are Aquforest stone. Yeah from what I read it shouldn't pose any problems at this level, but it's raising quiclky:grinning-face-with-sweat:

What ceramic? The track record companies claiming their ceramic does not release any aluminum is poor.

I think some companies read that ceramics do not dissolve and mistakenly assumed that means nothing can come off.

Could dosing c-vitamins help reduce aluminium ?

I am dosing Red Sea trace elements. Do anyone know what the D contains ? Could that be the source of my problems ?

Unless it is mismanufactured, it is not a significant source of aluminum.,

If the rock you purchased in Germany came from water that was high in aluminum, is it possible that the aluminum is leeching from the rock?

That is my thought as well, but it’s a bit strange for me that it’s leeching only know isn’t it?
