hello everyone, dealing with some issues in my 100gallon tank. I have both high nitrate (45ppm) after water change, and high phos (.23 with hanna ulr). 0 ammonia 0 nitrite Do a 15gal water change every 2 weeks typically hair algea has been a problem recently. Tank is about 2 or so years old. I have never put any chemical, gfo, carbon or anything in the tank before as I did not want to cause any problems by doing the wrong thing, but looks like I may need to do something? If someone could maybe point me in the right direction that would be great. I have a gfo reactor that I never hooked up that I could use if needed and also a phos reducer on hand

Can u share more about your tank first?

-Do u have a refugium, algae scrubber, algae reactor?
-What sort or coral and how many?
-how big of a system?
-what is your source RO water testing at?
-bioload ?

Will be easier to help with more info :)

So quite a few fish.
—Water changes for sure
—add more coral! They consume nutrient as food
—since u only have a few mushrooms, but have a good crew to eat any algae’s that pop up(mainly the foxface) I wouldn’t be too worried. Just do more frequent water changes. Maybe get a turf algae scrubber or start a refugium and cut back feeding a bit.
—maybe get yourself some turbo snails and/or urchins.
—gfo would help also.

Forgot to mention i do run a UV full time , low flow as i was worried about ich. will look into an algea scrubber, seems like a good idea. Unfortunately my fox and tang don't seem to like algea or even nori.
