As far as I know derasa‘s don't put down a foot, I have had one for many years, it’s been in a couple different tanks and I always just put him right on the sand bed.. worms shouldn’t be a problem.

Nice one thanks mate, your tank looks awesome what do you keep parameters at? Do you have a thread as I'd love to know your routine

I would bump your Ca to 480 as the clam will soak it up fast also Alk could go to 9.5.

Small derasa clams do have a foot/byssal threads that will attach. If it’s not attaching it might not be happy with water params, flow or lighting. Try to give it low to moderate flow, moderate light and check all params. In the mean time you can place small rocks around it to blow the water flow and give it time to attach itself.

Deresa has a a byssal gland and will put down byssal threads when small, not when large.

Thanks.. My parameters are almost exactly what yours are. I don’t like to push Alk much over 8, my tank typically sits at about 7.6 and calcium at about 420-440.. I cant get my nitrates much over 5 but typically hovers around 1-2 and phosphate is solid at .03 for a long time now. I have a link at bottom of page for my build thread or you can click the build thread badges of any member to go to their build.
