Hob refugium and ato

I received my tunze ato yesterday and have a few questions. I have a hob refugium that it fits in nicely, but is this going to do me any good? Is there any way to plumb the tube differently so the water level fluctuates in the refugium? I don't like the look of bulky equipment in the display tank
