House lost power

My house lost power at some point earlier today and PG&E is telling me it’s gonna be a couple of days before power is restored… What do I do? I don’t have a back up generator, but I was thinking about getting a battery powered bubbler and wrapping the tank with blankets as some sort of insulation. I have a 40 gallon breeder, any thoughts or advice is appreciated, please help.

First step is get aeration! Absolute highest priority. Worry about heat after that but yeah wrapping it is one way to help .

Oh man, yes start with those, maybe you can rent a generator? I know tool and equipment supply shops like sunbelt rentals have them. Not sure on the price though. What's your location? Maybe there's someone local who can help out?

When my old tank lost power for a day or two in the winter I aerated it by pouring tank water over it frequently. I woke up through the night to quickly do that as I didn't have a battery bubbler. I was lucky I had a woodstove at the time, I just kept the house a little warmer than usual. Not sure how cold it got but everything survived.

If you are wrapping the tank with blankets. MAKE SURE none of your blankets touch the water or get close to it. You’ll accidentally siphon out your tank if this happens! Also battery powered bubblers/airstones is a smart idea to have. We just bought some a couple weeks ago just to be safe
