So I have posted up on my local forum for a little while and thought I would bring my setup on over to reef2reef! I have a 10 stall rack breeder stall set up with 5 grow out tanks below it that all drain down to a wet/dry sump. I was able to get my rotifers setup from reed mariculture set up last week and that seems to be doing well.

Just thought I should put a quick update up. I have everything up and running now and most of the pairs are in the broodstock stalls.

#1 is a pair of Wild Caught Perc's and I think they will be the next to lay eggs. The female is starting to really beef up!

#2 Is a pair of Fancy Snowonyx and they are still a little young but just fantastic patterns so I am just feeding and waiting.

#3 is a new addition! They are a Phantom and Davinci, This pair has just been introduced to each other so it may be a few months before they lay but I am anxiously waiting to see what patterns show up!

Pair #4 is also a newly introduced pair and they are an Onyx and Maine Blizzard! I think these patterns could turn out pretty cool as well.

Pair #5 is a snowonyx pair. They are currently getting ready to lay batch number 4 and I will try and collect this batch.

I have a pair of mature gold strip maroons that should be here Tuesday and one more spawning pair that I may just pull the trigger on. I also have a pair of black and whites that are still a little young that are in my main display and a large black and white female that I need to find a male for.

Hope you guys like them and sorry about the bad pictures.

I agree, I do it for 2 reasons.

1) Less wild caught and more captive breeding

2) Cover the cost of the hobby in the first place and the rest goes to savings.

Pair #5 just slammed down batch number 4! Eggs look great and I should be able to collect these now that my Roti's are up and going.

Thanks guys, slight set back this morning. The male of my wild caught pair decided he wanted to see what the carpet felt like overnight :frusty:. So I am officially on the hunt for a wild caught perc male. Pretty bummed about it, I liked those 2 together.

Ugh...sorry man. I had that happen a few weeks ago but my wife heard a flapping fish and I was able to get it back in the tank quickly.

Well it looks like I have found a way to sooth my sorrows.....BUY 3 MORE PAIRS!! MUAHHHAHAHAHA. I have a pair of gold stripped maroons coming in today and tomorrow I pick up another pair of snowflakes and another pair of percs. I am starting to feel like the money guy on the GEICO commercials.

I'll share some advice I got when this happened to me.... put another fish in with the female right away. There is a strong chance that she will continue laying eggs with little interruption to her cycle. I would suggest putting her with the nicest Picasso you can find; this way you will have your own Picasso lineage to play with in the future.

I have sold a couple of my pairs and am adding atleast one more this week that is a proven layer. I moved my laing pair to the breeding system and it has thrown them off a little, should have layed Sunday. I am thinking the temp is a little cool at 80, this system is a little harder to keep high temps.
