This is a brand new oceanguard980 with right corner chip and the more I look at it the more it seems just cosmetic.

I am think of just fixing the glass portion and moving forward….

Do you guys think this chip has hindered the integrity? Doesn’t seem to have affected silcone.

Thank you!

Was the tank delivered this way, or did something happen on installation?

If this was a brand new, just delivered tank, I would not accept this. If the manufacturer/vendor isn't being helpful or responsive, maybe reach out to your credit card company.

Structural or not, I wouldn't live with this kind of chip if it wasn't my fault, it would drive me nuts to see it every day, and I probably don't have far to go 🤪

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!

Thank you for the response.

This tank was delivered this way, and is also discontinued. They told me to keep everything and did a refund, however, I built my entire setup around this exact tank so if this isn’t a big issue I would rather address the cosmetics and move forward, ugh.

That is a huge issue and I wouldn't feel at all comfortable with that. The chip carries over into the silicone. I know it's frustrating and you'd love to just crack on with your tank, but there's a very good chance that the tank would be cracking instead. Sorry for the pun.

If the dimensions of the tank are what you're hung up on, you can have a custom built tank made to match the dimensions. Glass Cages is well-considered in that regard, though certainly not the only option. @Joe Glass Cages .

Personally, I would not feel comfortable using a tank with that big of a chip.
