I just bought a couple of frags from a local reefer on craigslist. One is supposed to be an australian gold torch head and the other an orange ricordea. The ric is not what I expected and looks nothing like my other shrooms. The momma mushroom was in the tank and was HUGE. At first I thought it was a bubble tip anemone! It was a good five inches across. There were several babies and they had a bit of a "stem".

Is that a normal size for this kind of mushroom?

Browsing google they look a bit like the pacific ricordea. Like the one below but with bubbles everywhere and no blue.

Only 10 bucks so we shall see how it fares. I'll try and get a pic of my baby when it's acclimated.

Anyone have these that can tell me anything about them?

Old pic maybe 5 years, but you can see that piece in the front.
It started with only 6 rics and it grew out in two years close to 100.

Nice, I'm hoping to have this happen on the lower portions of my rock.

larger ricordea are more likely yumas. The florida strain usually top around 3" or so in diameter. I have some green hairy mushrooms that are about 6-7" in diameter.

Big d you still have these growing?

You Know, when I went away from the zeovit that I was doing for years they stopped growing and declined as well.
I believe there's one small one still on there.
My Interruptus Angel didn't really help either, but I was ready for a change so all is good.

Ive seen rics on the Florida keys easily 5 inches for a single mushroom, then again many corals grow larger outside of tanks.
