I have an rodi unit that came with my tank, and I am a little wary of it. I have changed the filters, but my tds meter is shot, and I have no way of telling how old the membrane is, or what my water reading is. That is not my main concern however.
I have my water draining into a 32 gallon bin. If I am optimistic, I would say that I have a 5% pure to 95% waste, so if I want to fill up that bin just once, I waste a little under 700 gallons of water. That aint right. My water bill would not justify using that amount of water when I can get 5 gallons of good water for a buck 75 could it?
To put this in perspective, in a 10 minute shower, you can use UP TO 42 gallons of water, depending on water pressure. Lets take the higher end of that and say 40 gallons. Filling my bin up once is like taking 17 ten minute showers, or one 3 hour shower.
I don't have a way of recycling the water back into irrigation or something, just aint an option. A perfect world could have me cycle the waste water back into the filtration again and again.
