Shouldn’t be a problem.

You’ll probably still get some dead zones that gather detritus though

I've never bothered cleaning the sump over 25 years.

The mulm and detritus is just part of a healthy ecosystem.

I use a shop vac. The cheap Home Depot one that you put in a five gallon bucket.
