How hard is it to build this sump?

As of right now I have a 65 gallon tank and am looking to add a sump to the system as well. I was looking online at other people's sump ideas and am interested in one such as

I am curious on how to go about building such a thing; and what type of plumbing would be needed. I don't have a sump as of just yet so I would probably go with either purchasing one of the trigger system sump or the possibly build one myself if anyone has any easy to follow guides. I would like to be more hands on when it comes to my tank so I am willing to learn what is needed. I have no plumbing experience really, however I also do not have too much of a height difference from my tank to sump so I don't think it could be too extensive. My tank does not have an internal overflow so I would also need to purchase an external one as well. I would love any experiences with different overflows and if anyone has did something similar that would be great as well.

Do you happen to have dimensions needed that glass would reach across a 40breeder?

Measure the inside and take off a 1/16th or so for silicone space.

I build sump kits all the time. you really want 1/8" space on either side of the baffles AND under the baffles that touch the bottom glass. use momentive rtv 100 series silicone, some spacers to keep the gaps even, and some way to brace the baffles while the silicone sets.
