I am not very good at photos but was wondering how the growth on my test frag is going. The one on the left is today, and the pic on the right is from 14 days earlier. I am guessing some corals grow more quickly than others? I dont think this one has a fancy name, just one I picked up at the local fish store.

It is getting kind of a white ring around the base. You can see it more on the left photo. Is that normal? I know I didn't get glue that far out.

Yep, I definitely see growth. Looks like a montipora to me, although I could be wrong, and those are fast growers. I have a monti digitata that grows ridiculously fast. I wouldn't be surprised if its growth rate accelerates as it gets used to your tank and lighting.

At first I see the tissue growing further out than the other picture. But now that you pointed out the white ring, it looks kind of abnormal. I would definitely keep an eye on it for the next week.

White around the edge of the tissue is normal with growth! If you’re talking about around the rock, it looks like coraline algae that is growing too, which is also good and often acts as a “natural glue” for corals establishing on rocks!

I do have several spots of corraline algae popping up. This is a pretty new tank. Just set up shortly after Christmas.

Great growth if you ask me!
