How large can an aptasia grow?

Hi I went to a local petco and was checking out the marine coral and fish I looked in one tank and saw what looked like a huge aptasia it looked about 3 1/2 inches around and about 4 inches tall and I do not believe that it was a n anemone that was for sale unfortunately I did not take any photos is it possible an aptasia can grow that large?

Yes aiptasia can grow that large - we have a large one in one or our sumps at work at the moment easily that size, and a neighboring lab used to study them.

Ive had 2"+ and seen 3" ones

As I said I have no pictures but thanks for the information I really never new they could get that large the few I have in my system are small and the peppermint shrimp in my tank seem to keep them in control.
