I'm going to run my GFO reactor, (also carbon since it's a dual reactor), intermittently to regulate phosphate levels. How long would it take before I have issues with anoxia? I'm talking hours not days.

You can check the smell when it first starts up to see if it have produced any hydrogen sulfide.
Do you suspect that could happen in a matter of hours, or would it likely take days? I once accidentally left a canister filter off for a month between cleanings. Fortunately I discovered my mistake and cleaned it out before it was restarted but I definitely know the smell!
