Hello and good afternoon y'all. What is good amount of time to leave the lights on. I have a 40gal, 4 t5 right now I have it setup on 5 hours a day roughly form 3 to 8pm. I don't get home from work till about 5pm so I like to enjoy it the afternoons when I have the downtime. My tank is in the living room so it has natural light all day but not direct light.

I leave my lights on for 10 hours each day...from 1:30pm-11:30pm...everything seems happy with that arrangement :-)...I have it this way so that I can enjoy the tank when I'm off work too.

What fishjunky said but I use led's so I have a period where just the blue are on before and after all are on so I think my total is about 12 hours.

I run all three 65watt power compacts on my tank for 12 hours from 4pm to 4am. I work nights so I like to be able to enjoy my tank before work and all night on my days off.

I'm thinking about grabbing another timer and running just the blues for 1-2 hours then everything then back to just blues for 1-2 before they go off.

I have light blocking curtains so my room is dark until the tank lights come on.

My blues are on 2 hours before and after. Whites on 8 hours a day.

I have leds and do a 4 hour sunrise, 5 hours at what is enough for daylight and a 5 hour sunset.
